COVID-19 Update OLD

The Governing Board at Portland Chinese Alliance Church has been discussing the growing concerns around the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). At the present time there are very few cases in Oregon. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our response accordingly. At the same time we desire to continue God’s work and not give in to an atmosphere of fear.

As of now, we will continue to meet together for Sunday worship, Sunday School, fellowship meetings, prayer meetings, and most other meetings. We have decided to suspend a few ministries for the present time:

  • Weekly Sunday lunch
  • The Alliance Language School
  • Tutoring class
  • Kirkland senior monthly meeting

As the situation develops, the Governing Board will decide whether or not we need to make any further changes. This web page will be updated as new information becomes available.

If you are unable to attend Sunday worship, audio recordings of sermons are available on our church website at https://pccma.org/resources/sermons/ We are exploring the possibility of live streaming our worship services.

We encourage you to follow the preventative measures recommended by our health authorities:

  • When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth with your elbow or your sleeve, or use a tissue.
  • When in public places try to avoid touching your face.
  • Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds before eating or touching your face. There is hand sanitizer for your use throughout the church.
  • If you or your children are sick with symptoms such as sore throat, coughing, fever, or runny nose, please stay home until the symptoms are completely gone.
  • If you or your household members have recently returned from a highly infected area please self-quarantine for two weeks. For a list of current CDC travel guidelines see this site: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html
